Buenosera!
On our second full day in Rome we decided to sleep in a little bit and we got sort of a late start to the day. After we all got ready, our first stop out was lunch! One of my favorite things in the world is truffle pasta & the place we went happened to have it so I couldn’t resist! It was hard to break the routine of caprese salad or pizza but it was definitely worth it. After lunch we stopped back at our hotel to grab a couple of things and then we were off to the Spanish Steps! We basically walked everywhere and we definitely got all of our fit bit steps in (we averaged around 20,000 steps and 6 miles a day!!!) Aka bring comfortable & already broken in shoes- I learned the hard way by bringing a new pair of Superga sneakers that I hadn’t broken in yet & they killed my feet on the first day. Rome’s metro system is a lot smaller than other European cities because there is so much yet to be uncovered under the ground from thousands of years ago so unless we wanted to spend a lot of money on a taxi, walking was our primary form of transportation.
The Spanish steps were 0.4 miles from our hotel so it was a manageable walk & definitely worth it! After we admired the steps, we window-shopped our way down Via Dei Condotti. Of course we took a late afternoon gelato break and made our way back to our hotel. We ate a late dinner at a small restaurant off of a side street and then we made sure to walk by the Trevi Fountain one more time before calling it a night (there’s something magical about the Trevi Fountain at night with the lights illuminating it.)
Thanks for following along with my Italian adventures!
XOXO,
Claire Marie
