DIY Weekend Mani

Who's listened to the new Taylor song?! I personally am in love and it really reminds me of Lindsay Lohan's Rumors which I was obsessed with. She's seriously throwing so much shade at Kanye & she's subtweeting Katy Perry calling her a mean girl!!!! Anyways, There's nothing better than freshly painted nails & when you cant afford to go get a mani- you can do these super cute & minimalist nails at home! I'm a sucker for dark nail polish- If I'm not wearing Essie's Bikini So Teeny (which is my all time fav color) I'm more than likely wearing a gray or a black & you will never catch me with naked nails, I hate them!!!! I'm also super into minimalist nail designs right now- they're super trendy & easy to create!

  • 2 of your fav Nail Polishes that look good together! I picked Revlon's Colorstay Gel Envy Ace of Spades & Essie's Penny Talk
  • A toothpick
  • Tiny piece of foil
  • A great top coat (my fav is Revlon's Colorstay Gel Envy #010)

  1. First thing's first- make sure your nails are naked & are filed down to whatever shape you like best!
  2. Pick which color you want as your base- I picked the dark gray to go on as the base (Revlon's Colorstay Gel Envy #500 in Ace of Spades) & Pick which color you want to use for your dots. (I used Essie's Penny Talk)
  3. Paint a couple of coats of your base color on your nails & wait for them to completely dry.
  4. Once your base coat is completely dry, dab a little bit of your dot color (Essie's Penny Talk) on your small piece of foil and dip the flat end of a toothpick into the polish & dot it on your nail where you want the bigger dot. Repeat this step on all of your nails.
  5. After you've completed all of the bigger dots, flip the toothpick & dip the pointy end into your polish & dot it on your nails above the larger dots.
  6. Wait for all of the polish to dry- probably like 5ish minutes & then paint the top coat over every nail & let dry.
  7. Throw on some pretty midi rings & admire your new trendy DIY nails!

What are your fav nail trends for this fall?!

P.S. Revlon's Colorstay Gel Envy's nail polish is my personal fav brand for nail polishes bc they have a great top coat & awesome colors & it lasts for a long time without chipping (SO important)!

Where ya @ Fall?!

Okay so who's been watching Bachelor in Paradise?! I didn't really get into Rachaels season mainly because I was busy with moving and working so I'm not too familiar with all of the guys from her season that are on Paradise. I am an avid Paradise watcher & it is seriously addicting but I am seriously done with hearing about Corinne & Demario, anyone else? Also, I am so annoyed with Dean- I loved him and Kristina but she def deserves someone better. I cannot get enough of Alexis, ever since Nick's season she has cracked me up- she's probably my favorite on the show along with Raven. Also, Danielle & Wells?!? Could she be any more boring?! But who am I to judge? I'm currently sitting here watching One Tree Hill & eating Oreo ice cream (completely ruining my Orange Theory workout from earlier). What do you all think of this season?!

I am so ready for this super hot weather to make it's way out. I don't know how much more of this 98 degree weather I can handle- but from what I can tell, it's going to be a while before it makes it's exit. So, for now, I am forced to pretend it's a little cooler and wear transitional pieces! This oriental silk Kimono from Forever 21 is seriously my new fav layering piece & it's under $20!!! it looks so cute with shorts (so it's perfect for really hot weather). I paired it with a basic T but it also looks so cute with a graphic underneath! I also just got these super cute TopShop studded booties from Nordstrom Rack for NINE DOLLARS! They are going to be a staple piece for me this fall for sure. What pieces are you all looking forward to wearing this fall?!

I've been on the hunt for a new pair of jeans & I found the perfect pair, they're Blank NYC & they're normally $88 & I got them on sale for $44! I've also been wanting to jump on the loafer train & I finally found a cute metallic pair at Forever 21 for UNDER $10!!!!! My Top 5 Skincare Picks!

Beauty, makeup, Skincare, Uncategorized

Hi everyone!

Skincare is so important to me because I have acne prone and combination oily skin. I didn’t really start getting bad breakouts until after I graduated from college (?!?!?!?). There is nothing worse than waking up in the morning with the feeling of a new breakout coming on, it’s so annoying. Although, I still have problems with my skin, I wanted to review my top 5 skincare products that keep these breakouts at bay. Each of these items serves a different purpose and they’re fairly inexpensive! I’ve linked where to buy them and I hope you enjoy!

The best way to start any skincare routine is by washing your face thoroughly and making sure you get all of the traces of makeup off of your face! We love to exfoliate our bodies so why not exfoliate our faces?! I’ve never tried a clarisonic because I was always hesitant of the bacteria it can collect and potentially make breakouts worse. I did some research and came across the Foreo Luna Mini and decided to order it based on how easy it is to clean! I am so happy I ordered it, it is seriously the best and it has two sides with different sized silicone bristles and it also has two different vibration speeds- high and low- this makes this product perfect for sensitive skin! Its so easy to use, all you have to do is put your favorite non-abrasive cleanser on your face and then turn the foreo on, wet it, and start moving it in small circles on your face! It’s also really nice because it stays charged for up to 5 months at a time and it’s small so it’s easily portable!

This is seriously the best moisturizer! There’s a misconception that if you have oily skin you don’t have to moisturize it because it just makes it oily & leads to more breakouts. THIS IS A MYTH!!! Regardless of the type of skin you have, you must moisturize it! If you don’t moisturize your oily skin, your face thinks it needs to produce more oil leading to more breakouts! Also, this moisturizer by IT cosmetics feels so light on your skin & it has a great smell & a little goes a long way! I am super into the anti-aging thing too because I’ve heard after you turn 20, gravity starts taking it’s toll so it’s important to moisturize, moisturize, moisturize!!!

This is a year round lifesaver!!! I seriously cannot live without this stuff! It’s so refreshing in the summer when it’s hot outside & you need a little spritz to freshen up! It’s also great for long flights because the air tends to be really dry on the airplane & this adds the moisture back into your skin! Also, the size is TSA approved!!! This is great during the winter too because no one wants dry skin! I also like to keep it in my workout bag to give myself a spritz after a hard Orange Theory Fitness class! Seriously, I bring it everywhere!

If you have acne like I do, you also have acne scars like I do & they suck! I have fair skin so the red acne scars really stand out when I’m not wearing foundation or cover up & let’s be honest, who wants to wear face makeup every day? Not this girl! I like this mask because it’s easy to apply, it has a nice scent, and it’s quick! You only have to leave it on for 10 minutes and do it every other day for it to make a difference. I like it too because it tends to make my face feel a lot more moisturized than before I used it. I have definitely noticed a difference in the severity of my acne scars since using this product, it’s definitely a must buy!

Okay, if you haven’t caught on yet, I LOVE Mario Badescu products! They’re fairly inexpensive and they always work for me & this stuff is no different! I always apply this to problem areas before going to bed and I always wake up with the areas less inflamed & smaller! I like this serum mainly because it doesn’t dry out my skin or irritate the areas of skin around it! If you have problems with random breakouts, this stuff is great!

I hope this helps any of you with problem skin! What are your favorite skin care regimens?

Weekends in NorCal🌲

Dogs, fashion, food, Recipe, travel

Hi Everyone!

So this past weekend we took a hiking day trip from Sacramento up to South Lake Tahoe & Echo Lake! I had never seen Lake Tahoe so I was very excited to see it! We left around 8am (an hour later than we said we were going to, but what can you do) it took us around an hour and a half to get to Echo Lake. We arrived around 9:30 and there was literally no parking left. The parking lot and all of the spaces on the road for like a mile up were full so we circled around like 5 times before we found a spot on the street far away from the trail head. Moral of the story is: we needed to wake up earlier and arrive around 8am to get a spot close to the trail head so if you plan on hiking this trail, arrive early, early, early!!!

This was Brewer’s (my precious dog child) first hike & he was a pro at dodging the rocks & keeping up with us-he even ran ahead for most of the time. It was definitely tiring for him because he’s so little and not completely use to going on long & tiring walks. The lake was beautiful & the air was crisp & refreshing. It was a nice break from the 105 degree weather we’ve had everyday in Sacramento. We hiked for an hour and a half and then turned around because Brewer was wiped out. I highly recommend this trail on Echo Lake because it wasn’t crowded (except for the parking lot) and it was challenging but definitely doable & the scenery was out of this world! One of my favorite things about living in Northern California is all of the nature and gorgeous scenery we’re surrounded by!

After we finally made it back to our car, we drove over to Lake Tahoe so I could see it. It took around 30 minutes to get to it because of traffic but it was a Saturday and people were headed to the lake so traffic was worse than it normally is. As I expected, Lake Tahoe was amazingggggg, I’ve never seen anything like it and now all I want to do is go back and spend a whole weekend there! After seeing Lake Tahoe, we were exhausted and all we wanted to do was eat and go and chill at home. Once we got back, Brewer was in desperate need for a bath so I gave him a bath and then we cooked out and laid low for the rest of the night!

Sunday morning we decided to sleep in a little bit and get a slow start to our day. After we got up, we spent our morning watching Ozarks (literally the best show on Netflix rn if you’re looking for a new one to start) and making eggs and breakfast potatoes. Honestly, that’s all I want out of a Sunday morning. We finally got ourselves together and left the house to go out and get some coffee at our fav local spot- Temple Coffee- and then went to run some boring house errands. We spent the rest of our Sunday binge watching Ozarks and The Keepers & I enjoyed every minute of it!

One of my favorite things in the world to eat is chicken salad. Back in Georgia we have a place called Chicken Salad Chick and they literally have 25 different flavors of chicken salad but since we don’t have any here in Cali, I am forced to make my own chicken salad. I have put my recipe for Sriracha Chicken Salad below and I have to say it is pretty good & healthyish! I also like to make a lot of it so it lasts a few days for lunches! ( it’s my fav thing to eat after a hard Orange Theory Fitness workout!)

  • 1 rotisserie chicken shredded (or you can boil your own chicken breasts and shred them- just depends on how much time you have!)
  • 2 tablespoons of Kraft Olive Oil Mayo- only 100 calories! (Has half the fat of regular mayo- don’t get me wrong, I LOVE mayo but it’s just not good for ya)
  • 2 tablespoons of Sriracha (or more just depending on how spicy you like it- I always end up adding extra when I’m eating it.)
  • 1 cup of chopped green onions
  • 1 cup of chopped cucumbers
  • ½ cup of fresh cilantro- can be subbed with parsley if you don’t like cilantro.
  • 1 teaspoon of Kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon of crushed red peppers
  • 1 teaspoon of black pepper

  1. Mix the green onions, cucumbers, and cilantro together in a medium sized bowl.
  2. Add the shredded rotisserie chicken to the bowl.
  3. Add in the olive oil mayo, sriracha, salt, crushed red pepper, and black pepper.
  4. Stir everything together until all of the ingredients are evenly mixed.
  5. Enjoy! I love to put my chicken salad on top of a bed of romaine lettuce or arugula- basically whatever green I have on hand!

(It’s also really good with tortilla chips as a snack dip!)

Cali State Fair 🎡

fashion, food, travel

Hi All!

The California State Fair just left town but not before we were able to stop by! We heard that Smashmouth (the inner kindergarten, Shrek loving me was screaming) was headlining the performances for the night so we just had to go. It was convenient for us because the state fair was in Sacramento and I was excited to check out it out because I had never been to one before! It is definitely much bigger than the county fair that I use to go to when I was younger.

The first thing we encountered when we got through the gates was the ginormous “food court” full of all of the fried food, tacos, and desserts you could dream of. We decided it was best to go ride the rides before stuffing our faces on the enticing fair food. It was like a million degrees outside and we thought we might be melting. It probably wasn’t our best idea to go during the hottest part of the day when the fair is all on asphalt. By the time we finally got to the area with the rides, we were riding them for the wind and relief from the heat. We had to ride the Ferris wheel, the swings, and the zip line that they had going from one part of the park to the other.

After we rode all of the rides we went and got a beer to sit and cool off from the heat. We had around 30 minutes until Smashmouth was coming on to perform so we just took that time to chill in the area with the fans and misters (it was much needed, I was legit melting). As expected, Smashmouth was amazing and just like I remembered from the late 90’s/early 2000’s. We had worked up quite the appetite and that called for avocado feta fries and fried oreos & they did not disappoint! On our way out we passed a photobooth area and we had to do it! Overall, the fair was so fun & I am already looking forward to attending next year!

Tips & tricks on traveling abroad to the fabulous Milan, Italy

fashion, food, travel

I just wanted to share a couple tips & tricks on things to do before going to Europe and traveling to Milan, Italy. I’ve included the place we stayed & most of the things we did with some quick reviews on them! Hope you enjoy!

Before Boarding the Plane:

  • Passport// You can’t get on the plane without one so make sure you know where yours is and the expiration date on it! I recommend making multiple copies of your passport, license, health insurance and all credit cards. I always keep one copy in my checked suitcase, carry on, and I leave one at home! This is good to do just in case something were to happen to your wallet or your passport, it will make it easier to do everything in case of an emergency!
  • Cell Service// Most of the places you will be staying at will have free wifi but it’s always helpful having wifi/ service when you are out and about exploring in order to be able to use your Maps app on your phone. We used a device called Skyroam. It was A M A Z I N G!! If you are planning on traveling abroad, I highly recommend looking into Skyroam. We paid $130 in total for 11 days to rent it for our whole trip. In comparison to Verizon, we would have each had to pay $110 each so Skyroam saved us $67 each. Basically, you can connect 5 devices to Skyroam & it serves as a hotspot for your phone so you have wifi access anywhere you are. This was a lifesaver when we had wandered just a little too far and needed to use our Maps to get back to our hotel! It was awesome!
  • Money// Exchange your money for Euros prior to your trip. We waited too long and we had to get Euros out at the ATL airport but it was a necessity because you will need them for Taxis and any emergencies once you arrive in Europe.

Milan, Italy

  • Airport to Hotel// We flew from ATL to MXP and our hotel was in the city center about 30 minutes away from the airport. In Milan there is a fixed taxi rate to ride from the MXP airport to the city center and it is We weren’t aware of this fee but it was something we had to do so next time we were prepared!
  • Our Hotel// We stayed at the Roommates Hotel Guilia. It was the best hotel I have ever stayed at! The lobby was so chic and it was only a stones throw away from the Duomo. The staff was so nice and helpful & the complimentary breakfast was to die for. Our room was fabulous, clean, and so comfortable. I cannot say enough about how amazing it was! I highly recommend staying there!
  • Shopping// Milan has the best shopping as it should because it is a fashion capital. Our hotel was right next to Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II and all of the fabuous shopping places. Everywhere you turn there is a different store & you definitely will get your H&M & Zara fill (they’re everywhere!!!)
  • The Duomo// You can’t go to Milan and not go inside of the Duomo. We went around 9am on a Sunday and did not buy our tickets beforehand and it was fine because we only waited in line for tickets for 15 minutes. The inside of the Duomo was breathtaking and there was mass going on at the time and it was a cool experience. Make sure to dress appropriately because they will turn you away if your shoulders/knees are showing. While admiring the outside of the Duomo, there will be pigeons everywhere and there are people trying to hand you bird food (avoid these people!!! They expect money & if you take the bird food, you will be engulfed with pigeons!!!)

Overall, Milan was a great start to our trip, it is not as fast paced as Rome or some of the other bigger cities. We were able to warm up to the idea of pizza, prosecco, and gelato at every meal quite quickly in Milan! The views and the food did not disappoint!
